New circus festival  „CIRCUS TREE“

From Friday, 5 August to Saturday, 13 August 2011.

Venue: Kadriorg Park and the streets of Tallinn

International contemporary circus festival is part of the programme Tallinn – European Capital of Culture 2011. The circus festival will introduce the Estonian public to the current state of European youth circus.

The festival brings together circus performers from Germany, England, Finland, Belgium and Holland. Of course, our own Estonian contemporary circus troupes are present as well – Circus Studio Folie, OMAtsirkus and others present their latest performances.

The festival will feature performances of young circus performers as well as well-known professional circus troupes from different European countries.

Alongside young groups of performers the Estonian audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the production The Time Between as the opening act of the festival on August 5th. The production is staged by Sebastiano Toma, the director of contemporary European circus.

In addition to circus performances at Kadriorg park, the circus festival takes place in the streets of Tallinn as well. The festival starts on August 5th with an attractive parade through the streets of Tallinn.

In the weekend of August 6th and 7th Circus Picnic event will take place in the park. The picnic area can be found around the Circus Alley, near Rosarium.

The pathway in Kadriorg Park leading from the Swan Pond to the Green stage will be transformed into Circus Avenue for the duration of the “Circus Tree” festival. Young street circus performers will occupy the avenue on the weekends of the festival, performing every evening one hour before the show.
